Youth Retreat cum Youth Camp

Assalamualaikum wrt

I would really like to extend my appreciation to those who have contributed in the Youth Camp 08. This Camp was jointly organised by Pemuda, Beliawanis and alumni KABA (IPK). This includes those who have contributed directly or indirectly.

Those involved are as follows:

(1) Adib, Nazmi, Hisham, Amzar, Taufik (the Pemudas)

(2) Roszanah & Co. (the Beliawanis)

(3) Ustaz Rasman, Ustaz Ismail (the asatizah)

(4) Hafiz. Zharfan, Irsyaad, Muhyie, NurFarahain, Nurul Jannah, Naqiyah, Shafiqah (alumni KABA)

As an alumni KABA, I am proud that we managed to hold ourselves together and work hand in hand with the Muhammadiyah Youths to organise the camp. Feedback from the parents are that, their children had enjoyed themselves and are looking forward to another camp as they are impressed.

Thank you. I have no other words to express my gratitude except that I hope that all your deeds will be rewarded accordingly by Allah swt.

I am myself not a perfect man and thus not the best person to lead the camp. Hence, I seek forgiveness and apologise to all those whom I have hurt either intentionally or not during my job. I have to admit my agressiveness during my tour of duty and at times I tend to be insensitive but thats the way things have worked.
SALAM. May we meet again some other times.

My Reflection as IPK Chairman 07/08

2008 hasn't been an easy one as planned in december 2007. remember the lunch where me, Ikhwan, Irsyaad and Jannah sat down pledging to commit in 2008 KABA activities as planned? sure thing, its easier planned than done. esp for a madrasah like KABA which hasn't got any activities for the past 4- 5 years or so and hasn't got participants for the 3 activities in 2007.

2007 activities are as follow:

(1) June camp at Pasir Ris Park: planned but didn't turn out

(2) Trekking at HSBC Treetop Trail

(3) December Youth Camp: not many KABA turned up

however, throughout 2008, there has been an improvement in the number of participants..

2008 activities are as follow:

(1) Movie Screening: The Kingdom and Prophet Muhammad Cartoon

(2) Ibtidai Minisportsday

(3) Iftar Ramadhan 08 & Qiamulail

(4) Raya Celebrations 08

Let me explain my personal activity in 07/08

took A levels in the end of year 07.

posted to SISPEC in December 07. started Basic Section Leader Course (BSLC) in December 07

promoted CPL. started Advanced Section Leader Course (ASLC) in March 08. went overseas- training in April 08 in Thailand Crescendo.

promoted to a Section Commander in June 08. posted to Pulau Tekong BMTC Sch 1 in July 08.

hectic isn't it? with all these within my schedule, one would ask hw I've managed to organise all the activities in KABA 08. Alhamdulillah this is why I managed to:

(1) help from Allah swt

(2) sacrifice: time, physical strength, emotional, mental and financial

(3) support from family, IPK members and asatizah

National Service has drained all my strength but I've managed to pull myself to hold on and continue with my 2008 plans. Managing IPK isn't an easy one together with NS commitment. Trust me, anyone would have given up long ago.

Thank You All

I, Abdul Hafiz Anuar, Chairman of the Ikatan Pelajar KABA (IPK) 07/08 would like to extend my appreciation to the following individuals:

Asatizahs
(1) Ustaz Rasman: for the guidance and the helpful thoughts that made the activities in 2008 possible.
(2) Ustaz Jani, Ustaz Ismail, Ustaz Hanafiah, Ustaz Md Abduh, allahyarham Ustaz Johari, Ustazah Zainab and the rest of the asatizahs of KABA

IPK members
(1) Abdul Muhyie: for helping me out in typing out my plans and passing down my instructions
(2) Ikhwan Risydah: for being the emcee and covering my duty up while I was in Thailand
(3) Zharfan: for being the one who brings the smile to our committee
(4) Syed Irsyaad: for being the one who comments alot
(5) Nurul Jannah: for being the most supportive.. wonderful prizes & presentation
(6) Nurul Huda: for the food.. burpp..
(7) Nur Farahain: for being the craziest.. the brochures and the posters
(8) Naqiyah: for bringing some hope that I can form a new committee

notable PEMUDAs
(1) Adib: for being there to help when I really need it (minisportsday & Iftar 08)
(2) Qhairil: for being the one who pops up during every event
(3) Hisham: for being there in movie screening..

All the IPK members will be leaving except me, Zharfan and Naqiyah. I hope to bring in a new committee of IPK members and mentor them in managing IPK and organising activities.

Giving A Thought

Let me list all the activities planned by IPK throughout the 2 yrs:

2007

1) June Camp in Pasir Ris Park

2) Bukit Timah Treetop Trail Trekking

3) December Youth Camp 07

2008

1) Movie Screening- The Kingdom & Prophet Mohammed saw cartoon

2) Ibtidai Minisportsday 08

3) Ramadhan Iftar cum Qiamulail 08

4) Raya Celebrations 08

It all started off with a failure after another failure in 2007. Frustrations, anger, disappointment definitely is part of being a chairman for IPK. Nobody can and will understand the stress and the responsibility of leading a team who never knew each other, with a communication system in the madrasah itself which seems to be very disastrous.

All these, Alhamdulillah, had been a success don't you think?

Hadith of the Day

Narrated ‘Abdullâh bin ‘Abbâs : Allah’s Messenger said that Allah the Glorious said,

“Verily, Allah has ordered that the good and the bad deeds be written down. Then He explained it clearly how (to write):He who intends to do a good deed and he does not do it, then Allah records it for him as a full good deed, but if he carries out his intention, the Glorious and the Great Allah writes it down for him with Him as from ten to seven hundred times, and even many times more. But if he intends to do an evil act and has not done it, then Allah writes it down with Him as a full good deed, but if he intends it and has done it, Allah writes it down as one bad deed.

Salam Takziah

Assalamualaikum to all!

I would like to convey the latest message regarding one of our ustaz who's been with us for quite some time.

Ustaz Johari had recently passed away in mekkah whilst he's supposed to be doing his Umrah. He had an incident of chest pains, thus passing away in the taxi either on the way to the hospital or on the way back to the hotel. Because there was no doctors in the hospital, that caused him and his friend to make a u-turn back to the hotel.

Let's all send our prayers to our beloved late ustaz johari. And condolences from us kaba students to his family. Salam Takziah.

I feel like it's just yesterday that we all had so much fun during the sports day.

Wasalam.

concerns raised after minisportsday

assalamualaikum to all..
i hope all is in good health in the guidance of Allah.

i'd like to address the concerns raised during the debrief after the sportsday. (i'm still referring to the notes written by huda on the pink tissue. thanks for the tissue.)

btw, there are some concerns abt the weaknesses of the organising of the minisportsday. as according to huda:

organising is weak in:
1) informing people of their tasks and roles esp to the asatizahs and facis
2) consent forms for children and parents
3) admin side- planning everything in papers so should one be down, others can take charge.

It's not a one man do one job in the commitee. Every one must knw the whole story to be able to help.

(i copied word for word from the tissue)

i might sound like finding excuses to make these mistakes but lets take it as a reason to why the organising is weak.

1) abt informing everyone abt their roles- not all in the comm are present during the meetings. i was expecting all to turn up during the week before i flew to thailand but in the end only 3 did. i wanted to make everything clear to all. nvr had the chance to. anw i can't blame anyone. we all have other commitments. so i'm trying to make the best of what we have.

2) abt consent form- i suggest that we form a commitee tt writes letters to parents rather than ask ustaz to. i knw more of u are more proficient in the language than ustaz is.

3) abt planning everything on papers- i did. but again nt all turned up for meetings. hw to pass the papers?? ok i remember only 1 had the initiative to ask for it.

btw, it wasn't that easy to assign task on the day itself. i really2 didn't expect afif, ilham and adib to turn up. the store i/c, nafiz didn't even turn up so i had to take charge of the stores and concurrently coordinate the activities.

one person had at least one primary task to do didn't they? anw i was expecting more initiative from the commitee to at least interact with the paricipants than lay idle. i myself was occupied with maintaining the stores and coordinating.

anw ikhwan had briefed the asatizahs on their roles during the last meeting.
the ustazahs did their fair job and so did the ustazs like ustaz hanafiah and ustaz saifuddin. we need to understand that they might not have enough strength to run abt like ustaz jo and ustaz abduh. their presence are much comforting. at least they ensured all are safe till the end.

i personally would rate the event 8.5/10. all went well in the eyes of the supervisors like ustaz jani and ustaz johari.

i'd like to extend my appreciation to:-
1) IKHWAN- did a great job in covering my job in my absence.
2)JANNAH- the prizes was beyond my expectation.
3) HUDA- food was great. great estimation by huda. none was put to waste. the sandwhich pon habis.
4) the MOTIVATOR who suddenly turned up
5) the ASATIZAHS- esp ustaz rasman for the support.

i'm sure all enjoyed themselves like i did. have a great day. salam.

MiniSportsDay Report By FARAHAIN

8am:
berkumpul di pusat

8.15am:
bertolak ke Pasir Ris Park
(zzz)

8.50am:
Warm up

Participants find it
-helpful
-important
(so that they won’t like injure themselves and whatnot during the whole thingy)

9am:
Eat breakfast
Got into groups – mix gender and class so that there’ll be more interaction amongst students from different ages.

6 groups in total. Each group, around 8 people

9.20am:
Put coloured tape around their wrists for easier identification of groups

9.30am:
1st game – potato sack race

10am:
2nd game- shuttle run

10.25am:
3rd game- egg spoon race thingy

10.40am:
Rest, drink water etc

11.05am:
Briefing on Captain’s Ball
(some might not know how to play)

11.12am:

4th game- Captain’s Ball

This is when the kids had a lot to comment on:
- It’s sort of draggy (1hr plus)
- it gets boring (for those who just sat one corner, not their turn to play)
- ‘tak fair tak fair! Dorg tinggi. Mane boleh!’ –I was like… uhh… okaayy…whatever...

Anyways,

12.20pm:
Lunch
(baek sey huda! The nasi ayam is love, really. The sambal extra pedas = I liike~)

Everybody loves this part I bet.
Shagged and all den dpt makan. Fuhh, best.
So yeah.

1.00pm:
Prize presentation
Winners (3 groups) received hampers.
The rest, since there were no prizes for them, they got some tidbits

1.30pm:
Back to pusat

IMPORTANT things to note:

(comments taken from the de-brief after sports day as well as during the event itself)

~ Comments from the kids

-They would want more games.

-Some said that they don’t mind spending more time
if there are fun games after we said that there’s
a time limit and all.

~ We sort of exceeded our time limit

-Should finish at 1pm If I’m not wrong. But we finished
at around 1.30pm. The first 3 games really followed the
time limit but the Captain’s ball took very long.

-Affected the quiz we wanted to carry out. I find the quiz
questions interesting, really. Also, the quiz is really
something else. It’s not physical. It’s using the brain kind.

-So I guess next time, we really have to work on this.
The time limit that we have and the time taken for each
activity as well so we don’t need to cancel out any of our events

~ Next. Prize giving

-It’s really very sad to see those kids who didn’t win,
didn’t get anything much. So next time, we should give them
some gifts too la.

*Anyway, I’m still not sure about the certificate of participation
Ustaz Rasman wanted to do.

~ Moving on. Ice-breaker games

-We were supposed to have this part –which was removed.
This is an important part actually. It’s like an Introduction!
So that the kids know one another and that’s when the bonding, the interaction and the teamwork comes in.

-Without this ice-breaker games, those kids would feel awkward
with the rest of their group members throughout the games, really.

~Lastly, wet weather programme

- It’s really risky ah just now.
It was raining in the East side.
So I reaaally think we have to have a wet
Weather programme if we’re carrying out an outdoor activity.

-All in all, the sports day was really great.
We hit our expected target of 50 students.
The participants really enjoyed it.
Rating : 8/10 for the whole thing.
And what can I say kan… The hampers simply looked preeeetty 

I've literally cut and paste the report given by Farahain(well done!). I've thought through about the issues raised during the debrief and I will try to address them here.

Assalamualaikum to all..

its been a long time since I've updated this blog. just as it seems there hasn't been any much progress for these few weeks. my apologies for the mismanagement as i do not have time as a luxury these days.

so far, the sports and games, iftar ramadhan and hari raya celebration proposals has been roughly written up. ilham have yet to send me a soft copy of his outing proposal. this is way past the deadline and i have not contacted ustaz rasman. (i think i'm gg to be sacked. haha!)

btw on the 8 march 2008, KABA had an internal camp for ibtidai 5 till tsanawiyah 4. the turnup was pretty good for a start. about 40... frankly i would have expected less. i was assigned to take charge of the games segment. however, due to scarcity of time, i had not been able to sketch of plans for the games. all was done impromtu. thanks to ikhwan and huda for helping me out swiftly in making my job easier. the students were basically taught the "right" way to wudhu and solat. overall, for ipk side, i didn't think it turned out right. it wasn't a job done as well as i think it was during the movie screening event.

i intended to hold a meeting for ipk on the 22nd march but it turned out that nobody can make it. haiizz.. i'm left with 9 weeks in SISPEC including my 3 weeks in thailand from 19th april. therefore, i shall be left with very little time to plan out the upcomiong activities. a mini sportsdays had been initially agreed upon to be organised in March/ April for the ibtidai students. however, there had been no progress. personally this is a tight situation for me.

anw i plan to recruit students from the present tsanawiyah batch into IPK. in near future, i wish to pass on the baton to the younger generation of students esp for the ladies side so that they can lead another team of IPK. i plan to give way to the others by the end of 2008 this year. any interested KABA students will definitely be considered. i will draft out an "application form" so as to be handed out to the students vary soon.

anymore updates, i shall try to write it in this blog. lets just pick up from where we were and move on.

CNY Meeting TerGempar

Salam to all.

As the title suggests, I guess it is the most important meeting of the year so far. To sum it all, (though I have not even started) the funding of our future activities depends on the proposal that we submit to MUIS.

Basically the proposal should outline our:

1) objectives of activity
2) targetted grp- other youths besides KABA students should be invited
3) estimated cost for the activity

The proposal for our 2008 activities should be done by 15th March 08 (which means we have approx more than 1 month)

However, the challenge I see is that we must plan out specifically the whole event of the year which includes Sports & Games, Outing, Iftar Cum Qiamulail, Hari Raya Celebration and FINALLY KABA CAMP!!

I've divided the task of coming up with the proposals into 3 teams.

TEAM 1: Ilham and Co. (amakongs here)- touching on the Sports & games for both Tsanawiyah and Ibtidai and the Outing
TEAM 2: Irsyaad and the Rest- touching on Iftar Ramadhan Cum Qiamulail and Hari Raya Celebration
TEAM 3: All and Ustazess- touching on the KABA camp (I have nt talked to Ustaz abt this aargh)

Individual team in-charge shall meet up and discuss with the sub- memberskong weekly depending on the need. I will check upon the progress of the teams on a weekly basis. Tentatively, I want to hold a meeting on 2nd March 08 for all the IPK comm. By then, I expect all the proposals for each activity to be done (and typed out of course). Ammendments shall be made during the meeting where each of us shall agree upon the proposal. The remaining days shall be reserved should anything hinders the smooth progress.

Full commitment I expect from the KONGS in- charge. Once proposal done, the rest shall be a breeze...I hope.. May Allah be with you.

Btw our service is needed on the 8th- 9th March 08 (Sat & Sun) as Ustaz Rasman intends to organise a Solat Camp for the Tsanawiyah students at Pusat Muhammadiyah. I guess its something like "Kursus menghalusi Solat" OK.. Basically our job is simply to organise some games and add some element of fun into the activity. It would be interactive lectures I guess just as Ustaz had done it 2 years ago.. I hope all in the IPK comm would come and lend a hand.

Finally Ustaz also intends to organise a Youth Seminar on 1st May 08. This would be done upon the agreement of Pemuda and Beliawanis Muhammadiyah. The objective of the Seminar is:
1) discuss on the topic of " The Role of Youths in the age of Globalisation"
2) for the publicity of KABA and its activities
3) to give out certificates to the graduated Tsanawi 4 and Aliyah of Year 2007

Do take note of the IMPORTANT DATES. Should you not have anything that hinders, do feel free to contribute. I'm not saying that it would be a must to be present in every activity coz I myself find it hard to fulfill it. Follow your heart may all these not be a burden to you. May Allah reward you all your deeds.

3rd february 08 movie screening

All praises is to Allah Lord of the Magnificent Throne

On a whole, the movie screening went well though, there seems to be a bit of confusion the day before due to the absence of Ustaz Rasman -.-"
Alhamdulillah.
All the facis arrived on time though I admit I was late.
Ustaz Rasman only arrived from Jakarta at 0800hrs. Thank God.

The Tsanawiyah students were shown The Kingdom.
Thanks for censoring the vulgarities..!
The plot at the start was good. I guess it really catches the attention of the students...

I admit the plot later turned out laggy.. haha. The students were later told to discuss and write out their thoughts based on the questions given about the movie.
It was a good theme- terrorism.

I believe this is the first time the students can interact with each other from different classes. I hope it managed to break some ice between them.

Anw I think I simply forgot to thank our IPK member whom I think had made the most contribution (the arranging of the saturday meeting, the projector problem, the deciding of movie, the setting of questions and quizes, preparing the goodies and etc) for the activity- Jannah. My most sincere THANK YOU.

Anyway the Ibtidai segment was more fun.. the kids were simply cute... the way they responded. It was full of enthusiasm and excitement. Qai, Zharfan and Ilham handled them well. Cartoon abt Prophet Muhammad PHUB was screened.

After a few important scenes, questions were thrown to these cute audience. All were eager to answer as goodies were given out to those with the correct answers. It ended by 1415 hrs as the kids needed to have their zohor prayers.

More is to come, yeah.. Btw there will be a meeting for IPK members this thurs 7 february at 0900 hrs. Ustaz promises that there will be a grant from MUIS for our proposed activities. YEAHH.. at least now we can get better stuffs.

Okayy. Before you ppl die in front of your comp (with the screen full
of the words 'thank you' staring at your pale face) due to reading
this whole chunks of words without any pictures -which is not yet

movie screening timeline

alhamdulillah.. our bowling outing with Pemuda Muhammadiyah went well yesterday 19 January 08. i'm sure everyone of us enjoyed ourself. someone will be posting the pics here right?? thank you.

i'm delighted that there seems to be a strong bridging relation between IPK and Pemuda now thanks to efforts of some who organise this outing. i hope more outings will be held so that the bond will remain strong.

btw i'm dissapointed with myself coz i didnt manage to talk to all the ipk members about the movie screening which will take place in 2 weeks time on the 3rd Feb 08 now that i've cancelled today's meeting. (my apologies- NS is draining my mental and physical strength that even nw i am sleepy while typing this.)

nevertheless i managed to talk to ustaz rasman abt the movie screening (though i physcially dozed off while ustaz was talking.. hehe..) he now has a clearer picture about how the whole thing will go.
tentatively, this is the timeline for 3rd Febuary 08.

0730: IPK facis arrival
0800: opening address by me (it will cover the publicity abt IPK involvement in 2007 activity and the upcoming 08 activity)
0810: short address by Ustaz Rasman
0815: host takes over from here (probably Ilham and Zharfan). start of movie screening
1000: end of movie.. brainstorming, discussion (4- 8 facis to guide the particiapnts. ustaz Ismail will guide us through this segment)
1020: presentation of ideas
1100: light snacks. feedback from participants

*grouping of participant will be done at random. classes will be mixed.

simple job eh? but i find the choosing of movie abit hard. we need one that would have a learning point and one tt fits our timeframe.
we need to prepare all the logistics by 2nd febuary. till then i will contact anyone of u ppl personally should i think there is a need to.

i'm just very tired these days.
